One might argue that Medea and Odysseus are similar in that they both attempt to gain control of their fate. Medea is angry at Jason for casting her aside to take another wife, and she feels like she has made many sacrifices for him and their marriage (i.e. deceiving her own father to help Jason in battle). So Medea begins a quest to take control of her fate rather than letting Jason control what will happen to her. Similarly, Odysseus attempts to return home after the battle at Troy, yet he meets many obstacles on the way that threaten to run him off course and alter his fate. Odysseus continually meets these challenges to maintain control over his fate. So in this way, Medea and Odysseus are comparable.
