In the role of Newt, write a letter to Dear Abbey explaining your dilemma prior to visiting Catharine. This is for the “Long Walk to Forever.”...

In order:  have you read the book "Long Walk to Forever"? If so,  do you understand the question?  In your own words, summarize in writing the action of the story.  What IS Newt's dilemma before he visits Catherine? State it in your own brief words.

Have you ever read the advice column "Dear Abby" in which Abby lists and answers requests for problem situations submitted by readers?  Have you ever seen "Dear Abby" or an advice column like it in your local paper?  If so, could you put yourself in the character of Newt, and in his voice, summarize his problem to Dear Abby as though he was writing a letter asking for a solution to his dilemma?

You must follow the format provided above in writing Newt's letter:  introduce yourself, the other characters and the topic;  state the problem, ask for a solution - "how do I -?"

and end with a symbolic name which is descriptive of Newt's problem. Examples:  "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" or "Down and Out in Wabash".

Hope that helps.
