Where is there foreshadowing in "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury?

There is immediate foreshadowing in the opening lines of Ray Bradbury's "The Veldt":

'George, I wish you'd look at the nursery.'

'What's wrong with it?'

'I don't know....I just want you to look at it, is all, or call a psychologist in to look at it.'

With this last line of Lydia Hadley (whose name, interestingly, has the past tense of have as part of it), there is a sense of foreboding, not just for the parents, but also for the children since there is the suggestion that they are psychologically altered by this virtual reality of the African jungle.  The impending danger is foreshadowed in, not only the charging lions, but more subtlely in the "green-yellow eyes" of these virtual animals, whose evil influence supercedes the parental one.  For, the children now have become obsessed with their virtual world, rather than the real one:  "They live for the nursery." 

Written in 1972, Bradbury's story not only foreshadows the destruction of the family unit of the Hadleys, but it hints at the dangers of virtual reality that are a present threat to the detachment of people from friends and family in modern society.

Besides "Big Brother," what other commonalities do Fahrenheit 451, 1984, and Brave New World all have in common?

They all also feature main characters who struggle against totalitarian societies.  In 1984, Winston Smith realizes that he is being controlled and tries to rebel against Big Brother.  Although he ultimately loses to Big Brother and O'Brien, he represents a human's need for freedom of thought and being.

Similarly, in Fahrenheit 451, Montag fulfills the role of a "Winston Smith." He begins to question what he and the rest of his society have been indoctrinated with and eventually stages his own revolution.  In contrast to Winston, he actually meets with a success of sorts at the novel's end.

Brave New World features a similar character--John the Savage--who was conceived mistakenly (seemingly an act of inintentional rebellion itself) and who tries to fight against the regime.  In the end, however, John meets his demise through hanging.

While there are certainly many similarities among the three novels, another significant element is the misuse of technology, whether it be Room 101 and the telescreens in 1984 which torture and spy on humans or the television walls in Fahrenheit 451 or the abuse of reproduction advances in Brave New World. All three authors stress the tendency of totalitarian regimes to control the populous with technological advancements.

Substituting given values of m and v in this equation we get:

This total energy is lost by the comet on striking the Earth. Therefor the work done by the comet on the earth is also same, That is 2.453125*10^20 J.

What are the differences between mixtures and compounds?

A pure, homogenous substance which can be decomposed, through proper methods, in simple  elements is called compound.

 A compound could not be decomposed in its elements, using physichal or mechanical techniques.

A homogenous or heterogeneous substance, which is containing two or more elements or compounds that are in close contact and are combined in any proportion, is called mixture . Unlike the compound,the  mixture components  can be separated using physical methods, which could be evaporation, filtration, sublimation and magnetic separation.

The melting and boiling point are not definite in mixtures, while compounds have melting and boiling point fixed.

The properties of a compound are totally different from its components, while the properties of mixture components are remaining unchanged.

Why is the Chapter 1 entitled "The Sound of the Shell?"

The shell in chapter I represents civilization and order.  When Ralph and Piggy first meet they are not as aware of the seriousness of the situation.  Ralph is being playful and flying around like an airplane.  They come across the shell which they work together at pulling up.  The shell at first is represented by Piggy as something expensive (a remnant of commercialism and the other social standards). 

Piggy suddenly realizes that the shell can be used to call together the other boys.  Ralph blows the conch and the other children come to them.

Jack shows up with some of his choir boys.  He already demonstrates a look of anger.  He tries to claim the title of chief but is voted out in favor of Ralph.  It is the first of the two boy's conflicts.

The conch is used as a mediating stick which is passed around.  He that holds it has the right to speak.  It is used to call order to the situation and establish the rules of civilization.  In many ways it is the last of the rules.

IN THE POEM "I HEAR AMERICA SINGING" WHAT ARE SUM REPETITION OF PHRASES AND REPETITON OF SENTENCE PATTERNS?

Part of what makes Whitman's poem so powerful is its repetition of what it means to be American.  When he opens with its title of hearing America singing, this becomes the familiar verse which is repeated in different and varied forms.  He "hears" different expressions of what it means to be America, contributing to both its vitality and the sensitivity of the poet to understand what the essence of "America" is.  The notion of varied carols is expressed in different forms and this helps to feed Whitman's conception of America, rooted in expression of "difference."  At the same time, the structure and language is extremely straightforward, helping to enhance Whitman's purpose and direction which is not aimed towards the elitist members of the social order, but rather at "typical" Americans who help to form the very basis of American identity.

Why has Prince Prospero locked himself and his guests in the abbey in "The Masque of the Red Death"?

Prince Prospero is trying to escape a deadly plague that is running rampant through his country.  Anyone who becomes infected with the "red death" begins to bleed from all pores and dies within thirty minutes.  Prospero gathers one thousand of his people, and they seal themselves in the abbey to wait for the plague to be over.  His name, "Prospero", is ironic because he does not prosper by locking himself away; no one can escape death.
